Your boy has my utmost sympathies, I have spinal problems too although not to his degree, it can be debilitating...
Fight fight fight..don't let it go try welfare rights and any other org you can think of, he is one of the ones that should get this..I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
Thanks Ellejmorgan...i know we will fight for him..just getting fed up of tribunals..will take someone with us this time, whos know what there doing..we get to emotional0

But we expected it...its was guaranteed to happen again...guaranteed..some people twist there backs doing the garden and have to have time off work, they know its painful.....let them have vertabraes removed,at least half fused together and metalwork screwed onto your spine, sunken chest etc..then complain about back pain..see if they can bend and twist...well just get fed up of complaining to dla0

Keep fighting and never give up, after i won my last appeal i decided to leave the back pay in the bank ready incase they try and stop it again. this way i have a good 12 months supply of money to keep me going untill any appeal is likely to be heard. From my experience genuine claims seem to get justice at appeal but its a total guessing game when it comes to DWP decision makers0

i realise that this may seem a bit nasty, and i dont mean it in the way it might sound ....
your posts are a bit 'rambling' and not precise and to the point.
if you are filling in the DLA forms yourself, it may not be too clear what your sons care/mobility meeds are ( although a tribunal SHOULD address this)
you need to get help in preparing an appeal from welfare rights/CAB/DIAL.
i would urge anyone applying for DLA NOT to fill in their own forms, but to get the help of an organisation who have the knowledge of what to include, and who know the amount of detail that is required.0 -
its ok..its only rambling on here as im answering different questions..the form was filled in correctly and i addressed every question truthfully and to the point.
The reason for the refusal was as the decision maker said..."he used the wrong information to determine his decision" this was said to us over the phone..he rang us
we corrected him and told him to get information if needed from our sons surgeon..thats what they said can take 2 months0 -
i know what your saying about the forms though..it is best to get help and we will do that ready for the appeal0
-
tiy should only put the people on the form that youre happy for the decision maker to contact ..... my consultant at the hospital is totally unhelpful and unsympathetoc.
he refuses to complete the forms or do a report unless he is paid!
so i only put my GP and my social worker on the form.0 -
hopefully i get that letter from his GP to help his cause..because i cannot see them getting one from the surgeon, but i thought thats why there sending there own doctor out for anyway.0

I volunteer for a childrens disability charity and have close connections to the surgical team who operate on our members
To be honest the surgeons NEVER have time to complete the forms - I know for a fact that most often they are completed by a Junior Doctor who may NEVER have met your child
this is why I ALWAYS say to our member to put the details of someone who has CLOSE contact with the child down for the DWP to contact and if possible get a medical professional to complete the section " statement from someone who knows the child well"
for example our members ask the hospital physiotherapists attached to the surgical team if they will complete that part of the form and give details of HOW the claimant is affected by their disability
I would never advise anyone to put their surgeon - if the surgeons spent their time completing DLA forms- they wouldn't have time to carry out surgery
Hamlett - could your practice nurse at your GP surgery be the point of contact for the DWP?
does your child have a statement of special educational needs?
could you put the SENCO from the school down?
someone that you can talk to about the form is always helpful
because you can ask them to contact you if there are any questions they are unsure of before completing the form0
