Wrong item sent

At the end of last week I ordered a card making kit from a power seller, it was £3.99 with free postage.
An item arrived a couple of days later only it was not what I had ordered, instead I have been sent 60 disposable bibs.
I contacted the seller who pointed me in the direction of his T&C which state that I need to return the item at my cost before he will issue a new one/refund. I have no prob in returning the useless item but I do have a prob paying the postage which I would estimate to be at least £2.50 for a bulky but reasonably light item. He also asked for items to be returned recorded delivery, not sure how much extra that would be.
I'm not sure what to do here, if I open a dispute will Ebay tell me to return at my own expense effectively wiping out any refund or almost doubling the cost of the item? Should I just take the small financial loss, sell the bibs on my local Facebook selling site and give the guy negative feedback?
I looked more closely at the seller's stats once I received the item and saw he had a lot of amended feedback as well as several negs in the past month so proving that power seller isn't as good as I thought it was.
I wanted the card kit to make something for a 50th at the weekend so even if I was sent a replacement it is unlikely it will arrive in time.

Ebay will require you to pay for the return,(they may issue postage labels but this seems to be happening less now) as its such a low value item and now unlikely to arrive in time for you I would use your suggestion of reselling on FB.
Do you think you could get £5 for them? if so that would even give you a little profit.
Then leave feedback as you think.0 -
I've just googled the item sent and it seems the seller is selling the 60 bibs for £14.99 and Amazon is selling a 10 pack on their marketplace for £1.99+99p postage so what I thought was a worthless item is actually worth a lot more than the item I bought so just leaving negative feedback and selling the bibs seems the best, albeit slightly morally dubious, option.0

What a cheek expecting you to pay return postage on their mistake!
To say its in their T&C's is just a lot of old crock, its not as though its set in stone, they made them up themselves.
Sell the bibs, I know it seems morally wrong - I'd be thinking the same way - but they've brought it on themselves.
Undercut him and still make your money back - don't forget to make enough to cover your selling fees) and buy your card making kit elsewhere.
Then leave neutral feedback explaining that the seller sent you the wrong item but wanted you to pay for the return so that other buyers can be alerted to what is going on. (He probably really deserves a neg but if you're going to sell the bibs maybe let him off that mark down

Give the seller one last chance , email and ask directly for return postage and say that if they feel they do not want the wrong item returned (don't tell them what you have) that you feel forced to keep them and buyt the item you actually wanted elsewhere.
That way if they do suddenly decide later down the line that they want their more expensive item back you have given them fair warning that you consider it yours.
Incidentally, try selling the bibs on facebook as baby stuff does very well on there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
