VW Polo Fuel Problem

It's my son's polo, not sure of the year, but I think it's maybe aJ reg, so pretty old.
It was starting lovely, but within a few minutes, just stopping. Anyhoo, took it to garage, leaking fuel pump, changed, as they couldn't diagnose the problem until that was cured. They contacted VW, who said the distrubutors commonly need replacing for this sort of problem. Replaced distributor.
Today they said the work was done, she fired up beautifully, took her out for a test drive, and she conked out.
They're having a conflab about it, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas that maybe they've not thought of.
Must add, it's a small local garage, we really trust 'em, they recommended second hand parts and haven't minded storing the vehicle while those parts were sourced and received. They won't charge much for what they've done.

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Petrol / Diesel?
Which engine?
Try an old fashioned garage where they actually get their hands dirty.

Does it run for about the same amount of time before conking out? Does it splutter or is it instant? Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0

Starts lovely, runs fine for about 15 minutes, then sputters but not much, and stops.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
