Reminder or Calender on computer

Hi, wondered if someone could help

Ages (probably a few years) ago on our computer we had a reminder / calender program or thing on the computer where we could type something in on a date then it would remind us a week before and every day upto the event. For example we put in that the car tax disc is due on 31st january and it would remind us the week before to check we had done it

I cant find anything like this on the computer now and wondered if there was something somewhere that I could use like this on the computer?

Many thanks!

How about in Microsoft Outlook if you have it.
There is a calendar in there and when you type things in you can set reminders in there which pop up on your screen.

It doesnt work in Outlook Express though.

You can often do this with your email client - e.g Outlook. Can set the reminder on this to be anything form 15 minutes upwards. I know you can stick a calendar on Thunderbird but not sure about outlook Express. You can set up a calendar with google mail if you have that

Thanks, havent got google mail either.

Last time I had something like this the reminder popped up when the computer started up, ie I didnt have to go into the email program to be reminded

There is also a stand alone calendar from Mozilla which you could try.

There are lots of freeware calenders and Personal Information Managers available - one I used to use, before Outlook, was called EasyNoter - try searching for it with Google, or put 'freeware PIM' into Google & see what comes up.

perhaps try this one, it is pretty good and you can customise it.

This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.

I notice that your e mail account is with Hotmail. There appears to be a calendar function under "New appointment" so you could try that. It is just below the MSN Hotmail logo before you click on My messages when you first sign in.
