Npower Go Fix-8 Tariff - define fixed!

Hi,
I've just had a statement from Npower saying they're increasing my monthly direct debit by £20. I'm supposedly on the Go Fix-8 tariff so how can they increase the price? I thought that was the whole point of a 'fixed' tariff. If that's the case I'll be paying the £40.00 get out fee and scooting! Have I misunderstood?

This comes up an awful lot, it is the price per unit which is fixed NOT the monthly amount paid. Imagine if I signed a contract to buy petrol at current the current price for a year or two, the monetary amount is dependent on how much I use but the price won't go up or down regardless of what happens to price in the market generally.

Suppliers would probably go out of business if they offered those sort of tariffs, the only one I can think of is E.On's staywarm and this is reviewed annually I believe.
