I may have to start commuting from London to Brighton if all goes well-how doable is it? Anyone had to do this?

51 minutes into Victoria from Brighton - doesn't sounds too bad. It all depends on how long it takes you to get to the station, then how long to get to your place of work. That could add a lot of time0

Where abouts in London? Makes a big difference.0

Six minutes walk from Preston Park apparently but it's more about the distance from London to Brighton that I'm more concerned about. And the cost obviously.0

There's got to be a cheaper option, surely?0

It's a 2hr journey from Preston Park to Kilburn High Rd
Sounds expensive and will take 4hrs out of your day, every day0 -

But what if I take the Bakerloo line to Oxford circus and then the Victoria line to Victoria. Won't that shorten my journey?

It's a highly personal thing. But in my experience the commute 'quality' is a big deal and can make a journey seem twice as long or short. What do I mean by that?
- don't underestimate door-to-door time. Can be very different to stated transport time. Also, a quick dash over the road in the rain for example can be much easier than a trudge up a hill.
- how comfortable is the commute? An hour watching a movie on your iPad on a window seat can fly by. Thirty minutes standing squashed against an armpit... Very different!
- transfers can be a big deal. they can take time and energy, and sometimes sharp elbows.
For me, I found an hour commute totally fine. More than that started to get too much.0
