On offer at Sainsburys for £149.99. 20x Optical zoom.
I'm not sure HOW much of a bargain this is - the last time I used a camcorder it was the sort that recorded onto video tape! Will you need to buy any extras, i.e. batteries, memory cards?

MiniDV is a digital tape format, one of the highest quality you can get for consumers. You'll probably just need to buy miniDV tapes (which aren't cheap), but the battery/etc should come with the camera.
Do you have the model number? £149.99 for a MiniDV is usually a good price, but if it's a trimmed down model, maybe not.0 -

No, I dont unfortunately. The sign said it was reduced from £199.99.
I was going to go and get one this evening, my friend told me that it records straight onto little disks that go into your dvd player. I guess from what you say it doesnt?

Here's some of the features

Zeiss lens is a plus. Any camera is only as good as its lens.
Mini DV as a format will be going the way of VHS-C soon with people either opting for DVD camcorders or the ones that use a hard disc/card to record onto.
But for a cheap and cheerful camera it looks pretty good.We all evolve - get on with it0
