Hi all, it's been a long time since I have posted in the green fingers bit, but I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. I have been planting potatoes for a few years now, but this year as I am digging them up to cook, it looks as if something small has burrowed into some of them, leaving a bit of a hole! I have no idea what could be eating them, obviously some worm of some kind. Any advice to help save the rest of the crop, or is it too late? Is there anything I can do over the winter to the soil to stop this happening again next year?
Thanks in advance for any help :)

  • sounds like wireworm - but might be keel slugs, although wireworm more likely - certain spud varieties are more prone to them

if the tubers are much smaller than usual could even be eelworm
saving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk
    made loads last year

    Might also be woodlice.
They tend to get in when something else has done the initial damage.
