Jet2.com Cancelled Flight!

Can anybody offer any legal advice? Or have you been in a similar situation?
I booked flights from Blackpool to Amsterdam for £9, plus taxes, etc. Total £114.00 Wed 2nd May - Sun 6th May.
Last week I receive a call from Jet2.com saying they have cancelled my flight. I ask why. The person says "because of personal reasons" !!
So, I ask when the £114 will be put back on to my card. Well, it won't ! They only cancelled the outgoing flight, but not the returning flight. When I told him the return flight was'nt any good to me because I could'nt get out there, he said, there was nothing he could do! I asked if I could go the next day and he said, "Yes, if you pay for it". The next days flights were £159 each! thats why i booked the wed. After 5 mins of being told to write in to customer services and they would reply within 21 days, I put the phone down.
That evening I rang customer services @ £1.50 a minute!! and again did'nt get anywhere, apart from repeatedly being told to write in.
So, I read the terms & conditions.....I found this.
8.2.4 Except as otherwise provided by the Warsaw Convention or the Montreal Convention or EC Regulations, if we cancel a flight, fail to operate a flight reasonably according to the schedule, fail to stop at your destination, or cease operations on the route your flight forms part of, we shall, at your option, either:
8.2.4.1 carry you and your baggage at the earliest opportunity on another of our flights on which space is available and reimburse you for the additional charge on application, and, where necessary, extend the validity of your ticket; or
So, I write a 2 page letter, asking why did they not offer me a flight the next morning which was available; why did they say I had to pay £159; why do they on reimburse return flights that are with 48hrs of your outgoing flight, etc etc.
I found out that all flights from Blackpool on Tues & Wed have been cancelled, so numerous people must be in this situation.
So, I am stuck with 2 flights back from Amsterdam, that are no good to me. I am going to lose my hotel deposit of £180, because now I have to wait at least 21 days for an answer?!
I have read the terms and conditions again today and last week, they stated....
“On the rare occasion that we have to cancel your flight for any reason, and no suitable alternative flight is available, then we will advise you, using the contact details provided during your booking”
Today, I can not find this condition!! Was this because I questioned the fact, they should have offered me an alternative flight??
Anybody, any suggestions?
Thanks.

Credit card or Debit card? If credit card, contact CC company.0

Blondebee,
Before you start the the process of blame, i'd try and salvage your holiday. They only cancelled your outbound flight. Will they transfer it to a Manchester flight (is Manchester acceptable for you)? If they won't transfer it, it is available for £5.99 + tax on the Wednesday. Book that if it works, before everyone else that has been cancelled does.
BTW you can make a chargeback on a debit card as well as a credit card, although i'd try and avoid going down this path, as the airline will insist you booked 2x one way flights.
Not nice, but that's low cost carriers for you...0 -
Your EU rights are clearly stated hereUnder EU law you are entitled to
A refund of the full price you paid for your ticket within seven days for the part or parts of your journey not made (and for the part or parts already made if the flight is no longer serving any purpose in relation to your original travel plan) and a return flight to the departure airport as soon as possible.
or
Re-routing to your final destination as soon as possible or, if you agree, at a later date. (If the airline flies you to another airport in your destination city then they must pay for the transfer to the airport you were booked for or to another close-by point of your choice)0 -
On many of the low cost carriers, your booking is for two one-way flights, not a return flight.
That's how they wriggle their way out of some of their obligations.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
i think jet2 need a bit of a shake
i got an email from them saying my blackpool-amsterdam flight had been cancelled "for operational reasons" (not personal reasons lol) "as all tue and wed flights have been cancelled"... thing is, neither my outgoing nor incoming flight was on a tue or wed!!!
when i got hold of them they said, "oh it's ok it hasn't really been cancelled, that was a standard email we sent to everyone" - when i asked why then they told me me flight had been cancelled and refunded, they didn't know...
i'm still gonna call them well in advance to ENSURE i have that booking still!
they're numpties!0 -

For example Amsterdam to Blackpool.
It will only allow you to do so in euro's Then it will say that your credit card will not allow you to use forign currency.
