I applied for my mortgage about 10 days ago, received an offer on Friday (5 working days).
Nationwide are a nightmare at the minute. I have 2 clients ive placed with them, thankfully neither are in a rush or the position your in, if they were i think i would have gone elsewhere a few weeks ago.

Last i heard was 10 days from when they have everything to getting an offer out - not sure how true or up to date that is though.

Lucky you ACG, you obviously ARE NOT with Nationwide! Our trouble was, they lost all our paperwork then kept saying they needed more! That went on for 3weeks! If we get a 'No' after all this I will be fuming.
  • Really am starting to wish I hadnt of gone with Nationwide.

I have now been told that the backlog has gone from 8 days to 12 days, which means I now wont hear until Monday.

My exhange date is the 31st, which means everything now rests on Nationwide saying yes, if they say no after all this time it's game over. I wont have time to apply with anyone else.

Infact it has taken so long, it now rests on nationwide giving a straight yes, and not start requesting additional documents and employer references.

I hold out hope, but part of me wishes I had gone for a slightly higher interest rate for a faster decision.
  • Spoke to soon, recieved a text message 15 mins ago

"Nationwide are delighted to inform you that we have now issued a formal mortgage offer. We look forward to completing based on this offer"

Just hope it is the amount I applied for lol.

At last I can have a nights sleep without waking up every 10 mins.

Well done, glad yours is finally sorted :) just had one nightmare after another and spent most of the day in our local branch and on the phone to head office, we've been assured that ours will be looked at by the underwriter in the morning and she is going to phone us with the decision!!! Can't cope with much more of this now, struggling to sleep at night! Had the contract from our buyers today and made me panick even more :( hopefully we'll receive good news tomorrow like you Windlepoons :)
  • My fingers are crossed for you.

I know I had myself convinced I wasnt going to get it, so hopefully you will be given some good news tomorrow.
