How long are you planning on being in Thailand? Bangkok is a fantastic place - one of the best in the world - to spend 2-3 days but after then most people prefer to escape the noise, pollution and traffic for the countryside or a beach.
Internal travel in Thailand is cheap and easy so don't spend too long in Bangkok, get out and explore the country.0 -
Also at this time of year there are a lot of Ozzies there, depends if that's what you want!0

We are staying at the Metropoltan there x0

Is this a cheap backpacker dive near Khaosan Road or do you mean the Metropolitan?0

Go shopping! BKK is excellent for shopping! I spent the other weekend there on my own and had an amazing time.0

Cocktails at the Sky Bar or Dusit at the Lebua one night should be on the agenda...not very MSE at roughly £10 a drink (pricey here, fortunes in Thailand) but well worth it!
Also on a more MSE note, take a walk through the flower market and definitely go somewhere in a tuk tuk.
I agree with the above posters who said to get out of Bangkok as well...there are loads of brilliant places to visit and it is super cheap and easy to travel around the country. It would be a shame to go all that way and then only see Bangkok!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
A trip all the way up the river by public ferry. Get on at Central Pier.
Want to escape the heat, then you could do worse than visiting Siam Ocean World.
Have a wander round Lumphini Park, and talk to the monitor lizards.
Spend a few days out in the country in the Kanchanaburi area. Get there by 3rd Class train from Thonburi train station.0
