Extending no claims bonus to another vehicle

We recently bought a motorhome and assumed that we could extend my full no claims bonus to this as well as keeping the comprehensive insurance on my day to day vehicle.
Unfortunately I have just found out that you can only have a no claims bonus on one vehicle policy in each name - so on one of the vehicles we will have to go down to 0 years no claims - which of course puts up the premium up considerably.
What I intend to do is get the NCB changed on to the motorhome, and removed from my policy as my car is worth less.
My wife also has a car insured in her name so moving the policy to her name is not an option either.
We are with the AA for the car insurance and the caravan club (the AA do not cover motorhomes) for the motorhome insurance.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how we can insure 3 vehicles in 2 people's names most cost effectively.
I have called around already and the other insurance companies were considerably more expensive.

Admiral do a decent multi car policy. never used it but a family member has their car, daughters car and a works van insured under it, saves them a small fortune, considering the daughter was only 18 when they originally set it up.0

When i bought a Quad Bike, i coulkdnt use my NCB, i had tostart a new policy for it.
The only possibility is to investigate multi cat insurance policies, like admiral advertise.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. You need a real insurance broker, not a comparison site. A real broker will have access to policies specifically for second vehicles that will match the discount you get with the NCB on your main vehicle. You don't get a second matching NCB, just the discount. These are separate policies too, not multicar so multicar isn't your only option if you're happy with your current insurers.

Better to find out which is the most expensive to insure and use the NCD on that one.0 -
No joy with Admiral - one vehicle will have to go on zero no claims - I'll call some brokers tomorrow.
Thanks all for taking the time to respond:beer:0 -
Dont assume the car being cheaper is best to have zero no claims on.
You may find it better to start the motorhome off on zero no claims.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
What kind of motorhome is it? If it's a van conversion you need to make sure it's properly covered, I once had a mainstream insurer about to take my premium when I casually mentioned the word "conversion" and they said oh, well in that case we can't cover it. All my protestations that "conversion" didn't mean what they thought it meant fell on deaf ears, as far as they were concerned I'd done it myself with a hacksaw.
There are specialist campervan insurers, I used Safeguard after deciding to avoid mainstream insurers who don't know what they are doing for anything less common than a Ford Fiesta.Je suis Charlie.0 -
Have you tried a sepcialist firm? We use Safeguard who specialise in motorhomes and they mirrored our no claims on the car0
