Coventry First - Joint Account Opening

I currently have a Coventry First sole account which is approaching the end of it's first yaer and the interest drop.
I have read on previous posts that it is possible to open a joint account and use this for the second year.
However , having looked at the terms and conditions
Terms and Conditions
in item 1 it states
This account is only available to private individuals, either solely or jointly, aged 21 or over. The maximum permitted number of joint account holders is two, and we will accept instructions to transact on the account from either party. However many issues of the Coventry First account there may be, persons who have previously held Coventry First accounts, either solely or in joint names may not apply for this account in such sole or joint names.
Have they now closed the door to opening a joint account, after you have had a sole account?
