DLA success - TC implications

Hiya,

After a bit of a 'to do' with DLA, I have received a phone call to say that an award has been made - they couldn't tell me over the phone what, I will have to wait for the letter. Very relieved and my first job is to find a cleaner :)

I rang my friend who helped me with the application, and she told me to inform tax credits as DLA is an automatic entitlement to the disability element. Can anyone confirm? I've had a look at the info and I meet the criteria, but it seems to suggest that I may have to undertake more paperwork if they require proof that I'm 'suitably disabled'. I'm not sure I can take much more of all that nonsense, does anyone have any experience? I won't be eligible from mid Sept anyway, as I start my Masters, so I'm not sure it's worth the stress as I have a lot to do before then and tbh, DLA was a mare to deal with.

Any input appreciated x

PLEASE inform TCO - you are entitled to a disability premium if you are receiving DLA - the amount depends on which rate of DLA you recieve

When I claimed Tax credits and put down my son as being receipt of DLA the simply accepted my word ( I am sure they cross reference the claim with DWP) so it was very simple and straightforward

don't miss out on your entitlement

Thank you! I'm just waiting on the paperwork for the DLA to arrive then I'll give it a whirl, I'd sound a bit daft not knowing what I'd been awarded :D Apparently it'll be backdated to when I put the claim in for DLA (mid May) so it would be worth giving it a go. Still in shock that I got the DLA tbh, the letter I sent to them after they rejected my claim was cheeky and scathing beyond belief (they annoyed me, because they hadn't even read my form) but it obviously worked x
