Insurance Company want to use DriveAssist
After phoning my insurance company on Saturday regarding an accident I had on Friday, my insurance company have told me I'll get a phone call today from Drive Assist to arrange repairs to my car and also a courtesy car.
Having read all the horror stories about Drive Assist on the internet (although they do seem to be fairly old), do I have anything to worry about? Can I refuse to use Drive Assist or do I have to do as my insurance company say?
Thanks

It sounds like a third party is liable.
If so you can cancel your claim and claim directly off the third party yourself (or use a claim handler). You will be able to get the repairs done at a garage of your choice.0 -
anyone else?0

If at all possible avoid them. Our experience with them was shocking. 6 months to sort a £250 claim when a neighbour ran into our parked car. I suspect it was because we didn't need a courtesy car (no profit for them) and I have a bodyshop I use (no profit for them).0

There's a long thread o Drive Assist on MSE, do a search to find them, they're on plenty of other forums too.
If you google them, you can also find them on BBC Watchdog0 -
Thanks. I know to avoid them but what I'm asking is can I refuse to use them if the insurance company is saying I must?0

The Insurance company get paid a commission by DA hence why they are eager for you to use them.
If you have comprehensive you can claim off your own Insurer.
Irrespective of what cover you have you can claim directly off the other Insurer if they accept liability. You only need to ring them to ask, if they've accepted liability they will bend over backwards to help
