  • why are u so concerned abt ur boss? hhhmmm very weird, more than a boss?
Discussing financial matters is very sensitive and professionally if someone asks for your help you can recommed, not pursue them to change and convince, thats weird and doing a thread about the person- for them to change 'wow' mega strange. Your investing alot of time and energy into this, why? is there a return for you? or are halifax paying you? I can understand your being nice, but theres a line between helping, annoying and noisy. To be fair, it sounds as though, he's not that fussed about saving money or finding other accounts, for £5, its really not worth the time and effort your putting in. This is ok too, this is his/her choice and theres nthing wrong with that.

Just suggesting to someone to play the system with the banks and to make their savings work harder for them.

Nothing weird and certainly no main energy being put in by me.

I started a thread because I thought the purpose of this board was to discuss financial ideas and share thoughts.

The only weird one is you.

I agree with poorgirl-54 and don't think she is weird

Using poorgirl-54's theme of reasoning, should we now conclude there is a return for you when you agree with her?

    Rhetorical Q only.......

Advising someone is one thing "convincing a friend" is quite another and a bit more than usually acceptable in my opinion.

You can lead the horse to water but you can't make it drink!

People have their own opinions as to whether £5 a month is worth it so I'll just explain what I did/do to get my reward on the account.

I have 3 accounts with Halifax and my OH has one:
1 Reward account in my name
1 Reward account in joint names
1 Reward account in OH's name
    1 Online saver (2.8%AER) holding £1k

I set up the accounts via online banking so that on the 1st of the month the Savings account transfers £1k to my Reward account via SO, on the 3rd of the month this in turn is sent SO to Joint, on the 6th this is sent to the OH's account and on the 9th it returns to the savings account. £15pcm/£180py for doing nothing at all.

Plus if you use your clarity card for over £300pm on purchases you get another £5 on top. Although we tend to use other cards primarily so this isn't a regular thing.

If nothing else it pays for a meal and drinks for a night out at the end of the year.

Well someone covinced me to use on line banking a few years ago. Someone else told me about Stoozing. I did not see their help as unacceptable.

Some times I wonder why I bother posting on these forums.

Keep the faith, Andystriker. There's always something someone will post that's of use to someone. One or two opposing comments is just life.

As to the person you tried to convince - - as AdamJK says, you can lead a horse to water....may be this horse wasn't thirsty enough, but I am sure you'll come across another one who is.
  • Cheers innovate,

It's just you try and have discussion on these boards and you get insinuations from certain posters who have to suggest that I am weird or there is something in it for me, or it is unnaceptable to pursade them to make £5 a month for nothing.

Those posters are the one's who are weird or have problems.

I am not bothered if my work collegue goes ahead or not. I was just trying to help.

I won't bother posting on these boards in future.

I'm guessing someone stated the benefits of both and you read up (or perhaps asked questions) and decided to do it. From your first post, it would seem that you are almost harassing them to open the accounts.
