The story of 4 drumsticks...

Ha ha! The joys of pet ownership!!
We had a barbecue a few weeks ago and O/H grilled 4 burgers and put them aside while he got the buns - dog scoffed all four, red hot, in a millisecond then yelped the place down when they burned all the way down his throat...!!0 -
The dog never touches the cats food - though she used to occasionally take an interest in his!
Cat's on the bed or in the bath (mad cat) I can't equate to cats on a food preparation surface.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
Food preparation surface is locked away in the cupboard (chopping boards/plates etc) - and the worktops get wiped0

Zaksmum - Fred and Macius are worse than any dog I ever heard of....

My Archie is forever trying to go into my tin cupboard, he sits in there gnawing on the raw potatoes. The kitten climbs in the top left cupbaord (like yours) and sits trying to lick my bread - OMG. Did make me laugh when he went ontop of the cupboard and scared to come down.
I did stand there pointing and gesturing giving him a big lecture on why he was a grubby sod and I was gonna leave him there.
I did get him downeventually.

microwave!
i put all my defrosting/cooling meat in the microwave! harder to open up than cupboards....
learned the hard way after getting distracted putting away shopping.... realised it was a bit too quiet... and found a dog munching on a steak in the living room, with one cat on the counter tops ripping into another, and the second cat dancing around on the floor desperately trying to get her share!
it's always the cats that find it. the dog wouldnt dream of counter surfing... sadly the boy cat has other ideas!0 -
I USUALLY put anything defrosting or just cooked in the cool oven and shut the door, but was defrosting a roast shoulder of pork one day-all vacuum packed and everything.
It was frozen, and raw so thought it'd be ok on the worktop.
Went upstairs to do some changing of beds, came back down to a lump of pork in the middle of the living room floor. No plastic on it, and gnawed..huge chunks out of it.
Baldrick-the big cat must have knocked it onto the floor trying to get into it, and of course- the other 5 cats and the dogs thought it was blimmin picnic time!!
And we ALWAYS have to remember not to put cups of tea or anything on the floor, because next thing you hear a lapping sound and a big snout in your mug!
Wouldn't be without them for the world thoughRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x
If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.
I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them0 -
Microwave and oven are good - thanks (taking notes for future reference LOL)0

The first Christmas we were married, no kids yet, just our dog...we put the turkey on the worktop to cool before carving, both sets of parents coming for Christmas dinner, wanted to impress with my cooking skills.
Went back to the turkey half hour later...completely gone.
Not even so much as a bone left!
Dog under the table looking guilty as sin with a bloated tummy...he'd scoffed the entire turkey. Couldn't believe it.
Parents arrived just as I was gawping at the dog who promptly started throwing the turkey back up - I had absolutely nothing else I could serve up for dinner.
Parents were fine about it and just had the Christmas dinner with the little sausages as the only meat but the dog was in major disgrace for a good few days afterwards!0
