I managed to get the app working (after almost a week!). Skoda sent me the following message after I sent them a screenshot:

'in order to participate your age on Facebook has to be 18+ and you need to be resident of one of the participating countries.'

As a very-much over-18 UK resident (all info available on my fb), it was somewhat baffling...even more so when the app suddenly started working again!

That app is broken/not working properly, and they don't care at all.
I have 1700 FB friends, and it seemed to me that they weren't all showing so I went through them all one night inviting everyone in the area of the comp. 1000 missing, more than half. 7 picks out of the remainder. Way low compared to normal response rate and for this prize..just wrong.
I asked them on their FB page and got the age answer, and the country answer. People must be 18 plus (as all my FB friends are AFAIK) and in participating countries (as at least 10 people showing in the app weren't as they were US and Oz based).
It doesn't show all your friends, may not think YOU are 18, may not send invites (I gave up after 5 out of 10 people I asked hadn't got the one I sent).
I commented and got the brush off standard reply...so I'm not wasting another minute on this because nothing I do may actually be doing anything at all. They just spew out the same wrong excuses and aren't looking like even trying to fix or look into it.

TBH is they treat people with problems with their app as badly I wouldn't want a problem with one of their cars lol
