PPI Settlement Offer!!! RBS Tesco

Firstly Yesterday I received a letter from RBS making me an offer on my PPI mis-selling claim for my Tesco Credit Card. I was quoted a figure which they wish to offset against a debt which was resolved through a full and final settlement offer suggested by them. I was never made bankrupt or or took out an IVA. I had hoped to offset the amount against a separate outstanding debt which has been sold on. Do I accept that I am not going to be able to do this? This debt has been hanging around for over 7 years and I have not been able to work for over ten and it is really getting me down.
Secondly I was told by Lloyds Tsb my loan ppi claim was not mi-sold because I couldn't provide evidence. It did not matter the application was rushed and details were not discussed according to the letter evidence must be provided. Tricky proving that one after all the years. Any suggestions on taking this and my RBS claim further or do I just cut my losses.

    That is quite normal.

    Afraid so.

If the lender finds no evidence of wrongdoing and your allegations are not factual provable points but verbal allegations then you would typically fail in your complaint.

Yes, as others who thought final settlements were still legitimate targets for PPI complaints have found, you'll have to accept that the Bank can choose to off set in the circumstances you describe. Do you really think the Bank should write off huge chunks of loans and then have to also payout PPI redress against the same loans? For the purposes of PPI complaint, you still owe the monies written off.

Unless you can provide evidence of other mis-selling,then claiming the application was rushed simply won't cut it, I'm afraid. Were you perhaps repaying your loan with a single monthly premium? If so, this is front loaded PPI and is the most upheld complaint reason.
