Help with booking last minute package deal

Hi!

I was wondering if all you knowledgeable people could help me with something.

I am going to be booking a last minute break around the 17th August to fly late on the 20th/21st for a week (since I don't obtain my new passport until the 16th - by appointment). I have always booked breaks independently - buying cheap flights and then a hostel etc.

However, I was speaking to a friend who advised me that since we are booking so last minute on this occasion, it might be worth me looking at a package deal - as they often have good offers last minute to fill seats (we aren't fussy where we go).

I was wondering if anyone knows any good sites to find last min cheap package deals, whether it maybe cheaper to go to the travel agent, and any advice would be much appreciated.

Oddly we got hit with a charge for late booking after deciding, last minute, to take a 4 night break in the Canaries last year.
