help please

On the address bit on my computer there is a page like icon with a corner turned over.

I clicked on this and it indicated it says that the identity of this website is not verified and has not been encrypted.

It never showed this before. Can anyone help please.

Thanks in advance.

    Are you using Chrome?
If so, the icon is always there on a regular http:// page, but changes to a padlock if you visit a secure https:// site.

    Thanks.

Is it safe for me to use my passwords on websites showing this symbol?

All https means is that the information sent to the web site is encrypted as it is transmitted, so is difficult for something intercepting the data to make sense of it. If you have the misfortune to have a keylogging bit of malware on your computer, it will get the information before it is encrypted, so secure sites will make no difference.
So in short, I would say you can use your passwords, but I would not enter payment details on sites which are not https.
