I use this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kryptonite-KryptoLok-Series-Standard-Cable/dp/B005YPK8G2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1344892733&sr=8-2
Sold Secure Silver rated so fine for my bike insured for £350 iirc. Only trouble is it is quite heavy. They do a larger version but you actually want the smallest D lock possible, then fill it with as much bike as possible, so there's no space to jam a bottle jack in there to break it.
And make sure you use it properly! D lock through back wheel and frame, cable to front wheel. Really irritates me the number of bikes I see around uni locked up incredibly badly. Most amusing was when I saw a SINGLE WHEEL d locked to a bike stand. Owner had clearly just d locked through the front wheel, which might even have been quick release, so someone had helped themselves to the rest of the frame.0 -
