Does annual travel insurance cover UK as well as abroad?

Going to Rhodes soon for a family wedding. I get travel insurance included with my bank account but need to buy a policy for my (adult) son. Single trip cover starts at around £10, annual trip around £20. He doesn't know if he will go abroad again within the next 12 months but is likely to have a couple of UK trips. Does travel insurance nomally cover you in the UK as well as abroad? I think I saw something in my policy wording that says it does cover you but only if the trip is above a certain duration.

It depends on the policy.

Most do, although many of the perils covered are excluded. For example hospital treatment isn't usually covered in the UK.

As Opinions4u says - most will ; but a lot will have a clause stating a minimum of nights away. I think my travel insurance states 3 nights as a minimum for UK.

You would get free medical treatment in the UK anyway, so that wouldn't be an issue. I think he would be more interested in cover for personal possessions etc.

I am aware that I am being lazy by not just reading the policy terms so will do that! Thanks for your help.

I think mine specifies something similar so it's probably pretty much standard. Don't really understand why though. However, I think home insurance frequently covers possessions outside of the home, although sometimes at an extra cost.

Personally I don't pay extra for possessions outside of the home as I tend not to take things like a laptop out.
I do remember booking a trip to London and of course on day of travel the train drivers went on strike so I missed out - got the rail fare back no problem but the hotel wouldn't budge so had to claim off insurance.
