October Break

Hi everyone,
Myself and my husband are looking to go away around the 8th October for about 4/5 nights. We are mid-20s, like somewhere with lots of wee bars, cafes restaurants to go to at night and with things to see and do during the day, not big sunbathers or into very hot weather. Somewhere without extortionate prices would be great also :money: I have been looking at lots of places today but am a bit bamboozled by it all as I have seen so much! Any suggestions would be lovely
thanks

Oh, sorry you're from Scotland.0 -
Lol Bob, hopefully not those kind of wee bars...
Penguin, Prague is awesome but I have been twice before and wanting to go somewhere different this time. Thank you for helping though.0 -
We visited Prague in October a couple of years ago. Had a fab time! It's quite a small city so we just walked everywhere, the architecture is fantastic! Lost of little bars and restaurants and being out of the € it's relatively cheap. Weather was ok for us jeans and t shirts in the day but a real temperature drop at night meant fleeces and duvet jackets! Too early for the Christmas market but still lots of street vendors selling little plastic cups of mulled wine etc, which is good as when it's cold it's important to visit each one on your journey to the bar or restaurant lol.0

Apologies, we must have cross posted, I didn't see you had already been there when I suggested Prague.
If you like Prague, have you been to Budapest? Been there in the summer rather than October but I loved my trip there. Great architecture etc, the Fishermans Bastion is fantastic, as is Heroes Square the Basilica etc.0 -
Thanks mark I hadn't thought about Budapest. What are prices for food etc like there?0

The obvious place for me that springs to mind is Paris, or how about Vienna? Both have plenty to see (do a Third Man tour in Vienna for a bit of a laugh) and Paris has to be the ultimate cafe culture location.
For something completely different, there's been a couple of threads here recently regarding Iceland/Reykjavik - you certainly won't be doing sunbathing there in October!
As a final alternative, have you considered staying in this country and going to somewhere like London, or a smaller town feel Stratford upon Avon?0 -
In all honesty I can't really advise, I went in 1995 so I'm sure a lot has changed price wise but it was dirt cheap when we went, 40p for a pack of Marlboro Lights! Can't offer much other than my own memories I'm afraid.0
