I have this puzzle which is doing my head in
?46 3?5 89?
2?3 8?4 765
??8 ?6? 3?4
83? ??? ?46
??7 6?8 539
96? ??? ?78
6?9 ?8? 4??
38? 4?6 9?7

To just find one number logically would please me, yes I know I can plug it into a sudoku solver, but that is not the point, any tips?

How did you calculate the 7 though?
This was in the metro news the other day, it was the middle puzzle, I usually do the difficult one 1st and work 'backwards' this has me stumped though even days later

Thanks for the replies so far, perhaps I have offered the question poorly, I suppose what I am asking (to imnprove my technique) is how does one calculate a number from the postion in the original post?0

Look at the first cube top left. The two missing numbers in the middle row MUST be 1 and 9, they can't be anything else. Therefore, 5 and 7 are the two missing from the first row, as there is a 5 on the top of the sixth column, 5 MUST go in the first box of the third row, and 7 MUST go in the top left box:I have this puzzle which is doing my head in

Thanks , that was the definitive answer I was looking for, I suppose what confused me on this puzzle is that 1 can at present feature in any of the remaining squaressplishsplash wrote: »Look at the first cube top left. that 1 is 2 on the original grid..
If you write down all the posibilities there isn't a definative start point.
Top left is 7 but you can't intially prove it0
