Need to locate the chassis number on OH's bike

Please can someone advise me where to look for the chassis number on a Triumph Trophy 900 motorbike?

There was a discrepancy with the registration on the MOT certificates for the last 2 years and the DVLA have sent OH a letter requesting that he verify it on the bike, but we've looked all over it and can't find it.

Short of taking it to pieces, we're stumped.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

LL

last time i had this dvla came to see me (cutbacks eh )
all clear of course but not nice having dvla's finest making an appointment at your own emporium

i would have thought chassis number would be easily readable on the frame and the engine
maybe because you cant find them is the reason for the letter?
    does your husband like cycling?
might be wise for him to get practising for when this motorbike gets seized off him?

Why not take it back to the MOT station and ask them to show you where they got the chassis number from?

Why not ask your local dealer or, failing that, Triumph themselves?

  • The chassis number or frame number as its called on a bike is always on the right hand side of the headstock. This is the part of the frame nearest the headlight, which the front forks fit.

Yep, right hand side of head stock, also on a plate under the seat on that model.

Thanks everyone for your replies. OH has gone off to work on the bike this morning, but I'll pass on your suggestions later and let you know. He commutes 26 miles on it, so I don't think a pushbike would be welcome!

Thanks everyone - the number has been located, and thankfully it matches the one on the MOT certificate. :)
