Tax Credits and Maternity Allowance?

Good Afternoon All

Just a quick questions about "Child Tax Credits" and "Maternity Allowance".

The "Maternity Allowance" guidance states that "Maternity Allowance", does not and will not affect "Child Tax Credits".

So is this a case of I don't mention it and carry on as normal.

Or

Do I need to declare the "Maternity Allowance" and the amount paid to "Child Tax Credits" and await a new award notice.

Just when you think things are sorted, something else happens just to make life hard :D

:) Thank you in advance :)

I asked this question a while back myself as I needed to help my Daughter fill in her TC forms whilst she was receiving maternity allowance. A poster called "Icequeen" very helpfully informed me that Maternity allowance is not declarable for tax credit purposes.
  • Oh that's brilliant!

IceQueen has really helped me as well on a number of points.

Thank you so much for the clarification anyway :)
