When is interest calculated?

I've often wondered when the interest on my accounts is calculated.
For instance, I have HSBC current and savings accounts, and I like to 'sweep' my unused cash into my savings account to maximise the interest I get, which is quite significant.
But when should I do this? 6pm, 7pm, midnight?
If anybody knows, and would like to share, I would be very grateful.

I would guess its overnight - so you should transfer before close of business - to be safe 1500
