If you're paying by cash then the Single fare is the same whatever time of day you travel.
For Oyster card payments Peak is 06:30 to 09:30 and 16:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday outside of these times is Off Peak.
For Travelcards, Off Peak is valid anytime after 09:30 Monday to Friday
So for the weekend all Oyster/Travelcards are Off Peak, but unfortunately the cash singles price doesn't change at weekends.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Hi
Many thanks for the info
Trying to find cheapest way to get from Redbridge Tube to Stratford this evening
Chris0 -
Oyster card will be the cheapest @£1.40 single or £2.80 there and back. Cash single @£4.30 single or £8.60 there and back but it would be cheaper to get a 1 Day Off Peak Travelcard @£7 which would do the same.
With the Travelcard/Oyster if you have one of the following get it loaded on it, it will discount the price;- Senior Railcard
- 16-25 Railcard
- Disabled Persons Railcard
- Gold Card
- HM Forces Railcard

With this you need to get an Oyster, register it online, then register it at a station with your rail card. A lot of fuss for one time use.
Also an Oyster costs £5, but you get it refunded at a tube station if you hand it back, and also any money that you've loaded onto it0 -
You probably don't need to pay anything - thanks to Jeff Bridges Hair for his post on another of today's threads which I've copied here:
Quote:
Ticket Information:Customers who do not have a Games Day Travelcard are to be allowed to travel free on TfL services on presentation of a valid event ticket, printed at home event tickets or confirmation that they have purchased Olympic tickets for that day. This will be in place until the end of the Olympic Games.
No need to purchase a travelcard. Just present the evidence you have a ticket to pick up at the barriers and they will let you through.0
