I found Lidls nappies were waaaaaaaaaaaay better than any of the others - huge difference in price too.
At home you could use re-usables by making your own to cut costs.

I have never bought a wet wipe in my life - I used old cloths with a bit of witch hazel and grapeseed oil on and my daughter never once had nappy rash.

fOR her hands and face I used a plant sprayer with a couple of drops of lavender oil in and sprayed it on a cloth (or directly on to her - she used to LOVE that :D )

Out and about we'd use the Lidls nappies and I made up a small bottle of witch hazel / grapeseed oil to carry with us (you can use that on difrty hands and faces too) and I'd use tissues so that I could put them down the toilet, but at home everything was washable.

Cleaning products - we use bicarbonate of soda (excellent on the cooker top, for cleaning the bath and sinks; just use it like Jif) and the essential oil spray for kitchen worksurfaces and table.
Get yourself a pack of the microfibre cloths from Lidls - they are excellent and you don't need to use any 'cleaning products' with them - just water.
Vinegar is great too - for mirrors and windows.

re-usable nappies are great in theory, but a big outlay all at once if you are on a tight budget, even if cheaper in the long run.

cotton bottoms (tommee tippee) are really cheap at the moment £125.00 buys a whole birth to potty pack, they do packs in each size 12 nappies 3 wraps and the liners for 20.00 which is about the cost of 3-4 weeks in disposables.

i used this type with my 2 (was given some and have just added to them as well)

ebay can be cheap (there is still 2nd hand nappies being sold) ive just got some tots bots via ebay and they are fab

I'll second the vote for Lidl nappies. I used them on my youngest child and they were fine. A rough list for you -

A few microfibre cloths - Tesco value ones are fine. 89p for 3 small ones.

Stardrops - 85p for a big bottle in Morrisons.

Soda crystals - 51p for a 1kg bag in Tesco. In the washing powder aisle.

Bicarbonate of soda - 37p for 200g in Tesco (unless there is bulk buys someplace).

Vinegar - 15p for a pint of Tesco Value.

Napisan - For soaking and keeping your whites white. £1.69 for a half kilo pack in Tesco. It's usually in with the baby wipes, sterilising fluid etc.

I use Tesco tough black rubber gloves (£1.69 a pair) for most jobs around the house and when the tips eventually split, I line them with the Tesco value ones (48p for two pairs) for a bit more life.

We have a Savers store here - in fact two - one in my local village and one in the nearest big town. They're loads cheaper than supermarkets for cleaning products, toiletries, vitamins, baby stuff, makeup, perfume, some gifty things - I could go on. No food, though, but I have got into the habit of buying what I need in there and my food in my local supermarket and butchers. Everything in Savers is at least .50p cheaper than anywhere else - doesn't sound much but it soon mounts up. Stardrops can be found there as well as micro cloths.
