Utilities for second home
My husband and I are buying a 2-bedroomed flat as a second home, which will be used by us and other family members for probably no more that 12 weeks a year in total.
I would like advice on how to choose a untility company to provide my gas and electricity. I have looked at the price comparison websites but, should I choose what at first sight seems to be the cheapest option, or would I be better looking for a tariff with no daily standing charge? I have no previous bills to compare so I can't estimate what our annual consumption might be.

The cheapest no standing charge would probably be best. One where you can submit readings on line and generate an instant bill is good as this can maximise the savings by reducing the overall higher rate use.0

If your usage is seasonal, be wary of seasonally weighted gas that Npower use as you need to ensure it benefits your usage since its based on 12 months occupation.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
