Tyre Advice

Hi, I've got a 57 plate Seat Ibiza 1.9 tdi Sport fitted with Bridgestone Turanza ER30 (205/45/16/W) tyres. I've checked on Blackcircles and using the reg to search it comes up with a V speed rating. I only need the right front replacing.

I'm looking at a Falken Ziex ZE-912 tyre for £76.66.

1) Does it matter that I'm mixing brands and speed ratings on the front tyres?
2) Is this a good tyre?

Another option is that locally there's an tyre garage that specialises in part worn nearly new tyres that are guranteed. With this in mind what would be the tyre to look for?

Thanks

i use part worn, have done for about 20 years. absolutely no problems, Iam very experienced driver too. why pay for new?

so, save your cash, go for part worn is my advice
  • i dont mind part worn how ever i would not mix speed ratings on same axle. and if i can i like to keep the front pair the same brand as well.

Mixing fronts on a front wheel drive car isn't a great idea.

You could always put the backs on the front and mix on the back though, that isn't so bad.

If it's worn out one but not the other. Maybe it's time to get your tracking checked?
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Indeed -- I was driving a car around with a Bridgestone on one front wheel, and a Triangle (Chinese budget tyre) on the other.

Both gripped adequately well in the wet, but at the limit the handling was, well, amusing :)

Nothing unmanageable, but you could feel the differential in grip quite clearly.

You really should match tyres across a driven axle. As above, swap rears to the front and mix the rears.
Or how about you buy two new tyres for the front and get rid of your two worst, wherever they are on the car?

The next worse tyre has a tread of 5.5-6mm, reason this one is so worn is the other tyre on the same axle had a blow out.

I'm going to speak to the part worn dealer and how much a pair would cost. As the Turanza doesn't get the best of reviews I'm trying to switch to something better.

    Thanks
