article changed after offer refused

i made an offer on an article from a business seller i clearly have in my outbox a picture of the article
my bid has been turned down but the article is now something completely different if i click my link
i opened a talk box with ebay and basically they are saying they have no record of it and asked if i kept a cached page of the article
surely they can do this or are they hopeless

what would happen if my bid was accepted

surely something is very wrong here?
how can an article and description change and ebay cant see it or arent they interested?
they told me on open chat to contact the seller, why should i bother?

any guidance appreciated thanks

    its a rare article
i put my looking on hold while seller got back to me 22 hours later
do you not understand what i am saying?

item started out as an apple but changed into a football (hyperthetically speaking obviously)

you consider this reasonable and using the same item number too

i will drop in later see what others have to say
    thank you for your input
  • Your offer wasn't accepted though was it? So it isn't an issue is it?

If your offer had been accepted and a different item had been received then you would have had recourse.

An item cannot be changed if their are bids or offers outstanding, therefore either you are mistaken abut the sequence of events or there is a glitch .

Any auction that has a revision will also show as being revised .

It is possible that your offer was rejected the item was then revised to make use of the listing , this sometimes occurs if a seller decides to keep an item (or has soldit elsewhere) and wants to make use of the listing fee that has been paid.

Additional information about fixed price listings with pending Best Offers
You can make limited changes if you have a pending Best Offer. After you respond to the Best Offer, you can change any information except the format and duration.

He may have made a mistake, turned down your off then corrected it. Any way it goes there is no harm done and you have nothing to complain to Ebay about.

Nothing of importance can be changed while an offer is pending.

He clearly didnt have the item to sell to you at that price - and what he does after he refused it is his business.

You should have just used buy it now if you were that desperate for the item.
