DLA renewal denied carers allowance

Hi,

I recently got a letter saying my DLA renewal was denied.

Im wondering if i appeal the decision, how long does it take and will my carer still be able to keep the carers allowance during the appeal process.

Thanks.

You can appeal the DLA decision but your carers CA will cease now ithe DLA has ended..
But if you win will both benefits will be reinstated

What benefit will the carer need to claim now.

    Reinstated, and backdated.
However, the appeal may take over a year, if it is not reconsidered by the DWP.
Make very sure you supply them with all the evidence you can before asking for a reconsideration.
(though don't go over the time limit for doing this)
First request a 'written statement of reasons' for the decision, which will extend the appeal deadline by at least two weeks.
There is no benefit available directly for this situation, as the person is (officially) not now disabled.
In principle, the carer can try to claim ESA, on the grounds that there is a severe risk to the health of the cared-for person.
This is likely to be extremely problematic.
    Otherwise, JSA.
