Insuring Valuable Jewelry

Hi,

Does anyone know of any insurance companies which specialise in insuring valuable items of jewelry? I am proposing to my girlfirend soon, and have been given a diamond from her mother, which I have had set into a platinum setting. The value of the ring is £21,000.

I already have home insurance, and to add this item onto my current policy is going to cost close to £500 per year!

£500 is cheap for a £21k ring.

You need to read any requirements Insurers impose which on a ring of that value are typically it's only covered whilst worn, or not worn whilst she is in the same room or it's in a suitable safe eg a safe with a sufficient jewellery rating

You could try a dedicated jewellery policy (T H March are brokers that are generally highly rated by others in this field) but normally they are not as cost effective as having cover under the home insurance
