can i try to grow cornflowers in a container?

Hiya
I bought some shredded wheat the other day and they had a free packet of cornflower seeds on... they do look so pretty on the packet! Now being the proud tenant of a 1-bed flat in S London complete with small balcony and various windowsills, I can only plant things in pots or window boxes. (Currently micro-toms, chilli plants, little gem lettuce and various herbs). Question is, is it worth planting some of the cornflower seeds in a pot or windowbox or are they doomed to fail being wildflowers? would ask mum but she is on holiday for a fortnight, doh. Thanks!

Give it a go what have you got to lose???
They do get 2-3 feet high so will blow about a lot, you can getdwarf version I think, but they germinate really easily.
Ageratums and nigella have blue flowers that are similar but much lower growing plants

hm thanks nodwah. I think I will try and grow them and then sit them inside the balcony rather than in a box on the edge once they get too tall, wouldn't like them to blow over and crash onto someone's head below...
    Cheers!
