Hi
I'm looking to set up a basic website and several people have suggested Wordpress - I am not a complete technical novice but I have a few questions I hope someone could help with
I want a .co.uk address however WP dont seem to offer this so I take it I can buy domain through another provider and reregister it?
Will the WP hosting offer any email facility?

Hi,
I don't know if this will help but here goes.
I have an wordpress site. I purchased my domain names .co and .com from 123 Reg sometime ago and left them sitting there until I was ready to proceed.
I have two email address linked to this site, but I understand I could have an unlimited number - but 2 is enough for my needs.
As my site is an e-commerce site and I particularly wanted it optimized for mobile devices it was necessary to purchase as wordpress theme or template from a 3rd party (Theme Forest) about 35$. I also use Woocommerce.
I have only moderate skills in this area so employed a web designer to work to my brief.
Wordpress has worked out just fine for me and I am very pleased with the end result, although there were some initial difficulties with the theme selected. (The first one didn't work at all and I had to choose another theme)
I have a couple of twitter friends who have done there own Wordpress sites, (not e-commerece) and they have managed quite well on their own without the services of a web designer although I understand it was quite a sharp learning curve.
I am also led to believe that Google just loves Wordpress - time will tell how true this is.
Good luck with your websiteAn oak tree is just a nut that stood its ground0 -
I agree with everything you say JillyBaby, Google does love wordpress, I would also suggest the static page plugin if you have lots of content as it speeds things up.
Don't forget that if you are a business and are in the EU you need to obey the cookie laws, plenty of plugins to help with that too.0
