I missed all that, what was the quote?
Trying to get me PPR'd?
It's on here http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0002284/quotes
Halfway through the page and the quote starts with "I've been trying to figure something in my head..."
And it was quite fitting as a reply to HSW.0 -

How did you manage to find that? :think:0 -

BTW, you'd all but need miricle growth for families currently in arrears, on interest only mortgages to suddenly "come good", find loads of cash and pay their interest and capital down over the reamaining years on the mortgage. It's fairy land analysis.
I'm oft' ridiculed for my thread in DT 'The comming new prospertiy' but with factors such as those in employment being a higher number than at any time for 4 years, the seeds for growth are there. Everyone over estimated the boom and in typical fashion now over estimate the crash.
In 1991 my Brother threw the keys in on his flat, it was sold at auction for £19000. I vividly recall people saying those properties would never rise in value (he'd paid £50k 3 years before). Sure enough not only did they recover all lost value, they then doubled again.
Forebearance will work out for most stakeholders, it just takes patience and a cool head. 20 years from now all this will be but a distant blip.
BTW, one reason that could explain rising employment ina difficult GDP landscape, is the FACT so many people are dealing in cash. I even find large building firm clients of mine are HAVING to deal in cash as customers insist on lowest price (although no one admits to it on forums like this).0 -

No, that one is of course a major cloud, but we have to think beyond the obvious. For example;
+ we are percieved by many foreign investors as a safe haven now
+ exports to the rest of world are highest since 1975 - trends like this are hugely important
+ employment is highest for 4 years
+ a considerable effort to rebalnce the economy is well underway
+ a collapse of the Euro could be apositive, not a negative. EVERYONE said our leaving the ERM would be disasterous, and yet as ever the opposite was true
So a purely gloomy outlook is renderred a one sided affair.0 -

Surely not.
Being one of the 'doom is neigh' crowd is the easy sheep like state of mind. I thought you were indepentent minded and not a crowd follower?
A afore you say 'look at the evidence', yes I agree, but make sure it's ALL of the evidence including growing employment, record ROW exports, increasing savings and so on0 -

Is this another of the green shoots predictions conrad?
As only a month or so ago you seemed to have given up and were stating that GDP growth doesn't matter, weren't you?0 -

Don't disagree that the UK has at least started the long road of correcting the imbalances in the economy.
Unfortunately the "obvious" is a huge storm cloud. That may yet rain on our parade and inflict further damage.0
