If people knew they would lose their property if they could not make payments, they would take measures to ensure it did not happen, such as savings, insurance etc. If they expect they will be bailed out there is no reason to take personal responsibilty.
Sometimes the savings run out before the issue which caused the problem in the first place is resolved.
It took just over a year for ours to run out.......but more than that time for the issue to be resolved.
We were repossessed in late 1994 just as things were starting to turn around but it was too late by then.
Re insurance, we took out what we thought was insurance protecting us but alas it turned out it didn't when the time came to claim on it.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Ah bless.
Your husband is such as nice person. Rumours are abound that he's been PPR'ed, which must be some sort of mistake.
BTW. Why are you not on holiday with your "beloved" ? Perhaps he thinks you deserve a well earned break from what I suspect is a constant barrage of "those nasty people on MSE are being so horrible to me" and "what do you think dear, should we pay another £2000 off our massive mortgage, or shall we treble insulate our farmhouse with chicken feathers ?".
Anyway, if/when he returns, give him my best wishes.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -

Really ? Not according to his other half.
If Mrs RM is trying to cover up for Mr RM, then I wonder why he's been PPR'ed again. I suspect it's over some outburst or peronal insult against someone. And there was he, putting me on ignore for my "mental well being". :rotfl:30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.0 -
The Graham Gang is out in force again.
I'm looking forward to the swift return of RenovationMan. I always found his posts to be balanced, informative, and witty.
Therefore I was surprised he's been PPR'd simply for quoting a line out of Se7en, while cretins like HSW are still around spewing the most racist/bigoted crap while threatening fellow posters with physical violence.0 -
