Some DWP/JSA advice please.

Good morning to you all. Hopefully there are answers to this problem. Our son doesn't live at home and works part time (due to the work situation) and lives with his partner of 5 years.
She, his partner has now ended the relationship and our son has nowhere now to live. (The home is hers)
As he lives some way away we have agreed for him to move back home and this will mean he will have to give up his job.
Now, the question is 'how will DWP look upon this situation regarding any help with benefits etc having given up the job?'
We ourselves are on benefit due to my disability so will it effect us in any way do you think? We also have a 20 year old daughter at home who also works part time. The DWP are aware of her being at home paying us a very small amount of housekeeping each month.
Thanks in advance for any advice or help. Regards. Captain

Wouldn't it be both better and simpler for him to stay in the area where he's currently working and look for a flat/house share? If he's on a low income he may be eligible for some help with the rent from LHA.0

Hi. thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that is not an option. That had been thought to be the answer but not now as things have escalated and our son is now with us. Any other ideas/help gratefully received.Always looking for a bargain :j0 -
They *can* sanction him for leaving his job - whether this will happen is in reality up to them. I think it would be harsh - but don't make that decision.
All he can do is explain truthfully and leave it up to their decision maker what if any sanction will apply.
He will only get JSA - he should apply now because any sanction would be applied from the claim date - so delaying will not benefit.0 -
If you claim housing benefit your entitlement will be reduced.0

I left a job on the basis of needing to move 2 hours away, but in my case it was following having a baby, having no childcare support (I was able to prove that at the time, there was no local provision and travelling with baby wasn't an option), but that was more than 10 years ago and I think the baby thing probably seemed a better reason.
I think he needs to prepare a good reason why staying local, finding another place to live etc... has really been considered and why it wasn't an option in the end. If he did it the other way round, ie. gave up his job, moved to you, and now trying to justify it, it might more difficult to show good intention.0
