Budget brings further HIPs uncertainty

Very interesting article:-

'Buried in the Budget's detail the Chancellor has declared that the Energy Performance Certificates - the remaining keystone of HIPs - no longer need to be provided when properties are marketed’, said Shadow Housing Minister Michael Gove. ‘This announcement undermines the approach Ruth Kelly's Department has been taking for the last 12 months. The Chancellor also indicated that while HIPs could be introduced 'later this year' he gave no undertaking to stick to the 1 June launch date

You got a link? How does that fit in with complying with the EU directive or have they worked out that it will take 25 years before most homes will get assessed?
Wonder how else they can do it, include it with council tax revaluation?

Right, so it's yet another thing to be added before you finish as opposed to being in at the start. Better go and change my other thread.

From 1 June 2007, the law will require all homes put on the market to have a Home Information Pack. Included is a rating of the home's energy efficiency, as well as other information that will help improve the home buying and selling process. The Pack contains important information that buyers and sellers need to know.

I wouldn't expect all government departments to be 100% up to date with Stalin Brown's edicts. Neither have the Treasury never changed their minds, 10% tax rate? Property inside SIPPs?
