Tax credits advice

Good Morning
I have just had a baby son; so me and my wife have made a joint claim for tax credits that was rejected. I phoned tax credits help line this morning and explained that my wife has had to take some time off work from when her maternity leave finished in April and was not likely to return to work this year. There has been a huge drop in our joint income and the tax credits lady said we should receive roughly £40 per week once the claim has been re calculated.
Does anyone know how long this should take, and when my tax credits are likely to start!?
Thank you

When you say the claim was rejected what do you mean? Do you mean your income was too high to get any payments?
It is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question really. Sometimes it takes days, sometimes weeks or longer if any part of the claim was investigated before payment made.

It’s a new claim; our original income was too high. The lady said that they are not seeking anymore details from me.0

So you have sent in a second claim form?
Did you actually send in the claim form the first time or did they just tell you over the phone your income was too high? When was that?

I did mine last Saturday and the money came through on Thursday.
But I don't think you can expect it at a set time, 4-8 weeks is what they say, right?0
