volkswagen which one?
I am looking at buying a new car and am interested in a Volkswagen this time.
I cant make my mind up whether to buy a new Up! at about £9000 with a view to keeping it for 4 or 5 years or to buy a Fox Urban 1.2 that is a about 2 years old for about £5400 ish.
I havent been to test drive either yet, but have had a good look about on online.
Friends have Volkswagens but neither of these models can anyone advise on pros cons etc of each?
Thanks

If your useage is low (which it sounds like by the vehicles you've suggested) I'd advise against a brand new one as it wouldn't be worth the depreciation. The Fox sounds like a good bet though, although if you're doing any out of town driving I'd size up to a Polo!
http://www.parkers.co.uk is a good source of information to compare the vehicles, giving reviews, facts & figures and reliability information.
VW are an excellent choice in terms of build quality, although you may lose some spec & toys over similarly priced vehicles from other manufacturers.0 -
i travel to work about 15 miles each way, main reason for such a small car is DS is 17 this year and want insurance group 1 to add him on.
I like the Aygo and C1 as well but he is not impressed as thinks they are for girls so these cars are a compromise of what we will both be happy with
DS wants a Corsa but on the test drive I thought it was sluggish so that was ruled out
I have a Ka at the moment and like it, although I know some dont but it is now needing to have work done on it in next few months so think it is time for a change.0 -
This is a MS site so £9000 on a new car or £5400 on a 2 year old car that will be just as reliable???
Gotta be £5400.
Even a group 1 car is likely to add £1000's to your insurance and suspiscions that you are fronting.
Laso having the insurance in your name means when he crashes and statistics say that he will, You could lose all your no claims.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If he doesn't like the Aygo, tell him he's free to not drive it, to buy his own bloody car and to insure it himself.0

If you want a VW Up, buy a Skoda Citigo. Same basic car but cheaper. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Hi, no I will be the owner and the main driver as OH works in the opposite direction to me.
I am hoping to use the car for son to practice while he is having his driving lessons, he has savings for a car but is not planning on buying one straight away.
I am hoping to keep it for a while and he will have his own car within the year I would think.
I have looked at putting him on my insurance or buying a learner driver from Collingwood, this wouldnt have any effect on my no claims etc if he was to have a bump.
DS friends mam has agreed to front her sons insurance but I am not willing to do this, hence why we are looking at a compromise0 -

my advice, buy a banger for him to carry on secondary home lessons in, if he rips through a clutch or bumps it its not skin off your nose. somthing with 12 months mot and some tax £500.
then get the car you wish.0 -
Seat Ibiza, almost the same car as the Polo. Starts from £8995 at the moment for the 3 door.Iva started Dec 2018.0
