Ebay...fooled again

  • Thanks to everyone for their input. Just to update you, I have agreed to the partial refund. Naturally they are very happy.

I don't feel I have a choice. Its strange, but you feel bullied in a way. And I know they are working ebay and my lack of feedback to their advantage.

There was nothing wrong with the item. They have used it, bored of it and decided to get some money back but still hold onto it in case it comes handy in the future.

Between this and the 'missing parcels' in my other post, I earned £87.00. I have refunded £71.00 and I have no items.

Call it what you will, cynicism, bad luck, whatever. I know I have been scammed by both these buyers. Everyone wins but the seller.

You must be be on every scammers dream list on the internet by now.

RETURN ITEM AND FULL REFUND ONLY....

New and inexperienced sellers must stand out to them and they pickup on that.

I think youve been seen as a soft touch and scammed.

You should have asked them to send it back. Checked the item yourself and resell it.

You did have a choice though - you came on here for advice, people gave you the right advice - ask for the item to be returned - and you ignored it.
And feedback isn't really an issue, there's always a chance of getting it removed, eg, if you've offered the buyer refund on return, but they refuse then leave bad feedback, you might have a case for getting it removed.

To be fair, you don't know this is 100% true.

The missing parcels can be claimed for if you got proof of postage.

I did once buy a computer card that refused to work. I tried everything that I could think of. Eventually I contacted the seller and arranged to return. But then I gave it one last go, and just took it out of the computer and put it back again (for the Nth time). Of course it suddenly started working and continued working. So things that suddenly start working could possibly have actually been faulty, not a chancing buyer.

An electrical toy that's lasted 12 years, must be a record.

Did you ask for a partial refund?

Hardly. I have several original nintendo products dating from the late 80's early 90's that work just as good as they day they were purchased.

No. I don't like the idea of a partial refund. I either want what I bid and paid for as described, or I want return and refund. Although the overwhelming majority of stuff I buy on ebay is as described.

Power-ranger, if you were 'fooled' it's because you allowed yourself to be. You were given the advice here, return for a refund. You chose to ignore that and issue a partial.

To this end you will never know if the item you sold was working or not, you can assume and band around accusations here against your buyer, but the upshot is really you dont know and you never will.

I'm sorry you have had a bad initital experience in selling on ebay. I have sold a few things over the last 9 months and with the exception of someone not collecting one of my items from the post office have fared better than you.

I have received some excellent advice on here and its best to give people a chance to give you that advice before you react.

If I had been you I would have insisted on return of item for a full refund as I also believe they have tried it on and won. Chalk it down to bad experience and start selling some low value items not all ebay buyers are out to scam you.

    Good luck.
