Lighting for slanted wall

Helloo, keep posting here with my attic room problems haha! Was just wondering, at the moment I've got a light bulb sticking out of my slanted wall and I dont know what kind of cover is safe? Obviously can't have anything hangy but can't afford to have anything thats tight to the wall installed either (or maybe it's really easy and I don't know how.. But seems Like the whole thingy would have to be changed)
Does anyone know what would look nice but not burn me alive :)

Thanks

Light track with either fixed or moveable spotlights?

Or there are fittings that fix close to the ceiling/wall.

Look on IKEA or Screwfix website for ideas. Argos too.
  • Isn't it complicated to put that in ? What I mean is there is a circular thing
Attached to the wall that a light bulb screws into... How would I go about changing it?
  • fluorescent fittings don't get as hot as incandescent.

What room is it for and how high up is it?

  • If what you've got is a batten holder eg

then changing it to a bulkhead light such as this

is a fairly simple job of removing the old fitting, disconnecting the wires noting carefully where they go and reconnecting to the new fitting. You may have more than one set of wires to deal with. But a competent handyperson should be able to do it in 20 minutes.

Yes that's exactly what I've got! The problem
Isn't that it's in the way, the problem is that it's ugly :P it's in the bedroom and bare lightbulbs dont look very cosy.. I'm worried about putting some sort of lampshade on it and it catching on fire from hanging, and also can't think what would be small enough ?

Also I am definitely not a competent handy person :p
    Thank you everyone :)
  • Then you need a glass lampshade with a 30mm hole to fit the battenholder. Change the bulb to a compact fluorescent and there won't be any worries about overheating.
