Do I qualify for housing benefit?

Hello

I have recently separated from my wife, we have 5 children together. I earn £28,000pa and whilst I appreciate it's not that straightforward, I am trying to find out if I would be entitled to housing benefit as I am struggling to afford somewhere to have my children at the weekends.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Do you work - what are your earnings? How many bedrooms were you thinking of?

Doh- realised the earnings are in the OP (was sure they weren't there when I first posted - selective reading everywhere at the moment by me) - just ignore this postt.

In a nutshell.....no. You earn enough to afford your own rent and even if you did qualify you would only get enough to house yourself.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.

It's important to explain that if your Partner is the person who receives the Child Benefit, then the children will not form part of your claim when you apply and your LHA rate would be the rate for a Shared Room if you are under 35 and a 1 bed if over 35.
I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.
