PPC signage

Having reported a number of PPCs to the planning enforcement officer of Colchester Borough Council, I have the following info to report.

According to Sarah Hayes, the signage and cameras that the PPCs install do not require PP. However, the exception to this seems to be the large banners that a lot of PPCs are now hanging-up to try and enforce their lie.
The Parking Eye banner hung in the carpark of Aldi is under investigation for breach of advertising regulations.

This removes one line of irritation. Complaints to the Planning Officer will just tie-up a Council official without any financial levy on a PPC.

Looks like we will have to find another avenue for making mischief with the PPC brigade.

Am now on the look-out for 'forgotten' HiVis vests from the various PPCs so I can take the war on to the next level.

ANPR cameras do require PP if they are mounted on their own freestanding pole.

As do the signs if they are over a certain size, what the council are really saying is we cant be ar5ed!

UKCPS had signs posted all over a retail park near here. They have nearly all been removed except the smaller ones, I think someone may have had a word with the PP!;)

The Council could be ar5ed. They had 3 people investigating my complaint. The cameras are all mounted on stand-offs on lighting poles already installed. The signage is covered under the fact that the stores are allowed to display 'Advertising hoardings up to a specified size' on their premises and these are counted as advertising (not sure how). will be investigating further and, if required, educating the Council on their possible mistake.

As the way in which planning law is interpreted is down to the local planning office there cannot therefore be a national approach.

However, for roughly a year now, the Advertising Standards Authority have been responsible not only for their normal fields but also for the content of commercial websites. Might this not offer another fertile area for the discovery of misdemeanours by PPC's? There are a good few PPC websites that incorporate what might be described as "imaginative claims". Bottom line now is, if they cannot back up any of their claims then they have to go.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
