Bank card and pin number fiasco

Hi, I currently have a Santander account and my card was due to expire at the end of Jul 12. I expected a new card by the middle of Jul but nothing. Checked in branch and one had been sent out weeks ago so they cancelled that one and ordered another. Few days later 2 cards arrived and then one pin number. Not knowing what card the pin number was for I went into the branch to check and they informed me which one it was. To the machine I went to activate it but the machine swallowed the card!! I have since been issued another card but still waiting for a pin number. So far they have tried 6 times to issue me with one. The latest being one sent out on the 8th Aug, received it today but they had cancelled it before checking with me if i had received it. The latest I will get one now is Tuesday with this special extraction service which has failed before! Surely it cant be that difficult to renew a visa debit card with a pin. This is beyond a joke now and will be looking for compensation from them (don't know how much they will offer) and then will be looking at moving banks. What did make me laugh was the sign in the Santander branch saying they were voted best UK bank!!!!!! Would appreciate any comments from Santander customers and what sort of compensation they would be offering plus what bank would be the best to move to next?

"Compensation" offered will be your financial losses* and maybe a little for the 'distress and inconvenience**'

Anything offered over and above this will be goodwill.

    Say £10-20?

    * Car parking for (unnecessary) branch visits, telephone calls, getting cash by more expensive means eg credit cards, etc

** The FOS site has some examples.

I have tried to read the OP.

Ran out of breath before I got to the end.

    What exactly is the problem?
