Sorry - haven't deserted you - had a migraine for 3 days and then a very busy weekend in all that heat.

Perhaps you could use your collection of £2 coins for Christmas or another special occasion?

I was given some money by my godmother when I was 21 and for some unknown reason decided to buy myself life membership of the NT - you can guess how long ago that was because it only cost £75, *and* it admits me and any one guest. Today it costs £1585 for joint life membership (i.e. only the two named members can use the card). It's the best £75 I ever spent: I've certainly had my money's worth over the years, just in car parking near Cornish beaches, let alone all the other places we've visited. When i went back to work after having my children I bought NT life membership for each of them too (but by then it had gone up to £125 each), and they all use it for holidays. Tomorrow I'm taking a friend out to a local NT property for the afternoon while my DH goes off to steward at the beer festival.

Morning Diary. Morning Ionafan, hope you have a great day out today.

Well Sunday was a lovely relaxing day in the end and yesterday, a NSD, was just paid stuff mostly.

I am up at silly o'clock again today. I think it may be because of pain in my arm. My shoulder generally hurts a bit because of all the time I spend working at the pc but the pain has spread to my elbow. Now I have alternatively blamed this on RSI, a really bad insect sting I had a few weeks ago and a possible side effect of the statins I'm on. Anyway, am about to take 2 weeks off work and will see how I go with the rest from the pc.

Thanks to the HH Paperwork on the flylady thread yesterday (I only do things when I'm told to!!), I redid my finances completely for this month and next.

As long I keep this week's grocery spend to under £70 I should now be ok this month, although I will be using savings for days out when we're off work. I am planning though to use that NT card to discover new places and will take picnics mostly to keep spend to a minimum. I already have the petrol budget in place.

    Next months extras:

DD Birthday £150 (for present and meal out, am thinking I may be able to spend less)
Rail tickets for graduation (approx £60)
Another wedding (petrol only approx £70, they don't want a present although a donation to build their dream house is welcome. As I don't even own my own dream house yet, they can wait too)
Optician (will be using voucher for free test and money off glasses so hoping to keep to approx £30)

Will update when something else happens, hopefully nothing too drastic.

Popped to shops for bread and did online shopping order too. Have discovered why my arm hurts so much. After wriggling to get good view in mirror, have seen that I've been bitten at least once again. The area is about 5" wide and bright red. Have put cream on and now smell like a chemist.

I always smother myself in insect repellent as my dog walks take me out to fields and ponds, but I have been really unlucky this year. I also had a nasty bite on my ankle a few weeks ago that kept me awake for a few nights.

At least, I know its not muscle problems from the statins. That's a relief because these ones have been ok, not like the last lot that mushed my brain.

And my shoulder has been showing signs of improvement since I got my supa dupa proper office chair from freecycle.

Enough now, off to do the paid stuff and looking forward to freebie night out at cinema tonight.

Jazee, have you seen this link on Martin's Money Tips? Might help with your rail journey plans.

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-coach-train-ticket-deals

"Buy the Sunday Telegraph (£2) this Sun (26 Aug) and enter the code printed in the paper at online train booking site RedSpottedHanky and £10 will be credited to your account to buy a train ticket before 31 Dec 2012.

RedSpottedHanky is a train ticket booking site that you can use to pay all the major train operators (though like others, this excludes Megatrain and Eurostar)."

Morning diary. Morning Ionafan. Thanks for the tips on rail travel. I will take a look. I have another bite today at the top of my leg but had a better night's sleep I think due to being exhausted. Had to get up in night to take tabs to prevent headache getting worse but that is my own fault. After a great evening at cinema, we decided to get a KFC (first in 3 years) and I had mine with a big glass of milk. I know what my triggers are for migraine, but sometimes I just can't help myself.

Anyway, I feel ok this morning. Have updated siggy to reflect spends.

Hello, welcome aboard Moneywasternomore. Sorry to hear about OH's job. I have just read your signature, and have to say well done on clearing that lot of debt. The PDLs are the real killer when you have them aren't they? A low point for me was pawning DDs clarinet, but at the time there was really no other option left.

Hope I don't bore you too much in future with my witterings.

My LB moment came around the time of standing in cash converter with my camera, sat nav and ipod speaker. I was terrified someone I knew would see me and I would be totaly embarrased. I have pawned jwellery in the past too. Terrified as to who was going to knock on the door, dreading the post and unplugging the phone. All because I wanted to spend on what ??? nothing I could not have lived without. If it had been to live or feed us fair comment but it was just me wasting money. I manage better now on one wage than I did then on two wages. When I think about it if DH had a wage now, I could save half of it. Just goes to show how much I wasted ?.

Look forward to chatting with you.

    :)

Your post gave me goosebumps and made me think back to the sick feeling I used to get hoping no one would see me at the shop in the centre of town, especially DH as I'm one of those who kept the problem secret for years. So glad those days are over.

On a positive note, today has been a NSD, really busy at the paid stuff, so have updated siggy again.
