Bridesmaid Dress Nightmare

Hi,
I don't know if anyone can help, and i'm really not sure what consumer rights say about this type of thing but here goes!
My best friends cousin is her bridesmaid for next saturday, 18th. Shes 6. We went into the bridal wear store in February to tell the shop owner what dresses were required, 2 flower girl dresses were included. The shop owner said they wouldn't need to be fitted til about a month before the wedding, children grow so fast. No problems. About 3 weeks ago, the flower girls were fitted for their dresses. My friend was told that the older girls dress would have to be altered from a dress for a 3yr olds size. Girls were measured. Trying on the dress today, the dress is too small, around the chest and she can't get her arms in very well. The shop owner at first said that there wasn't anything they could do, the dressmaker has gone on holiday, and she wouldn't be issuing a refund. She's since changed her mind and shes found another dressmaker to alter it, adding more material. This dress has cost £120.
What we'd like to know is if we asked for a refund on the dress, and not the alteration, is she obliged to give one?
Thanks

The dress is going to be altered to fit Y/N? Where do you think you'll find a matching one in a week? Not sure what the problem is?0 -
If the dress is going to be altered to fit, then just go for it.
Isnt life fraught enough at the moment.
Just let everything happen as it happens, and enjoy...........make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
